This isnt really a macro, the ball is about 4" across. it was taken by a 50mm prime where the river eroded the bank underneath this chunk of land, leaving this little guy hanging. i thought the light was interesting enough to bother posting this. plus i dont have alot of macro, so i'm filling out. lol. i took a bunch w/ different f/stops its really hard to decide what was best, especially because the dirt kept rotating so it was different every time. i think this is my favourite

Very interesting indeed! Unique is the word! Often we don't truly 'see' things like this in nature....and since it is 'strange' to us, we might not even stop to take a photo, but I'm glad you took this shot. It made me sit up and take notice and think more on taking a few shots like this also...nice idea and great colours...Verena

looks like something above is hanging on to the nourishment it was getting from this clump of the earth. Plants and their roots are amazingly resilient and this is just more proof. I think your macro work here is super.

wow i like this a lot! i love the dof, and the colors are awesome. just a great capture, it seems like it has a powerful mood to it even though it is just a dirt clod. fantastic work! ~abby
