This waterfall seems to defy gravity on this slope as it pours over rock on the knuckle or peak of the hill, as opposed to a normal stream which finds the valleys. the background is sir james macbrian in the Cirque of the Unclimbables.

Stunningly gorgeous capture Carl.
Did you do something to the sky afterwards or did you get it all "just so" in the original shot?
I love everything about this one, perfect far as I'm concerned.

Carl..this is just totally awesome..it's gorgeous. I just love how you shot this...the flow of the Falls is great, and the drama of the grays and dark tones is wonderful also. Very very nice shot..verena

thanks for all the feedback, this shot is pretty much how it came out of the camera, obviously i played with white balance and curves how all digital cameras do (whether manual or not) but otherwise this is it.

So i was showing these to Quinn, and we were thinking about your shutter speed and your probable lack of tripod. You didn't have one with you did you? What did you do then?

No one wanted to pay to say something in my sig, so i will have to try and think of something creative now...

theres no way i'd bring a tripod along for 5 days of backpacking like this. The majic for these shots is a 10mm lens, and around a 1/10s shutter speed.

I was also holding the camera near the ground, so that helped me brace my elbows.
