In my opinion a color image would have been better than a B/W or the flower in color and the rest B/W. This has good clarity and texture.

I must echo Ramad's sentiments.

I am a sucker for B/W format so love this shot. Well composed and creative. Well done.

I prefer color as well, however, B&W directs the eyes to textures more I think. Background is perfectly soft...

'Let's eat Grandma!' or, 'Let's eat, Grandma!' Punctuation saves lives...

Well...I will be the odd one here... the BW allows the viewer to appreciate the lovely papery texture of the stem as it splits to allow the bud to emerge. You might think of cloning out that flower blossom just above the bud... it is a bit distracting, perhaps. Nice shot...keep it up! I can never get flower close-ups right...but you are doing fine.
