I encourage this shot to be moved slightly to the left. You could get the larger tower out by itself with the palms on the right (keeping the metal towers out of the shot).
Hello Derek, I like to agree with Geri. If you had chosen for another angle (either by moving to the right and/or by turning your camera to the left so that the lighthouse wouldn't have been hidden partly by the palm trees), the composition would have been better and so your image. When you have the opportunity, give it a try and you'll see that we are right. Regards, Cornelius.
This makes a much better and more dramatic vertical, Derek, giving prominence to the silhouetted figures in the lower left. Crop down the center between the tall palms eliminating the right half entirely, and also across the top, eliminating most of the sky above the trees. There's already plenty of sky. Now you have dramatic figures as a lead-in, and smooth vertical viewing flow up and back to the silhouetted figures, without any distracting elements.
This composition shows the unity of the vertical in nature, and in the human-made. The resemblance in shape of the metal tower and the palm trees, versus the concrete tower that hides the direct sun causing the bright glow, providing the palm trees with almost a magical appearance, shows the harmony between the three. Had the shot been taken more to the left, the sun would spoil the picture. For the clouds, timing was of the essence here...
