Just a little slice of heaven found on my hike the other day. I believe this is some species of swallowtail? Thanks to all who view and comment.

Donna, 'butterfly-images' will become another speciality of you! You've captured this 'swallowtail'(?) very well. Thanks & regards, Cornelius

Very nicely done. I'm so jealous. Butterflies are definitely off my list unless they are still caterpillars. Superb color and DOF on this.

You know, I blew this up to the largest size and it zoomed right in on that butterfly with no loss of clarity at all. I'm wondering if a bit of cropping might be in order so that the subject can be seen more closely?

Boy, I love the way you captured him there hanging in the breeze. I love the setting. Now I know where the butterflies went. LOL

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I saw what PJ said, so I thought I would try that. She is right. It does crop without any loss of clarity. However, I', not sure but what I like it as is also because of the beautiful background with supporting grasses. Tough call. It's a keeper. That part is not a tough call.

I like it just the way it is - the background is beautiful and a perfect foil for the exquisite beauty of the butterfly. Beautiful composition, in my faves and highest praise, matched by a high score in the VB 2 mins ago :) Had to follow up and see who the artist was :)

Very interesting composition - I like it a lot. The blurred background makes the butterfly stand out. Great post.
