When looking at this image (and it is best viewed at full sized) several questions enter my mind. How far off the ground were they when they did this flyby? How fast was the shutter speed or did you practice "panning"? They were either very close to the spectators and the ground or you have a very powerful zoom lens. Anyway, very good capture, you can even see the pilot looking at you. High marks from me.
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live life in such a manner that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.
I'm sure this is probably the completely wrong way to go about it but I'm just getting out of the habit of using my automatic mode for everything. I couldn't use a tripod because they were all over the sky, auto focus wouldn't stay with it and I figured the only way to freeze them was to run the shutter speed all the way up to 1600. My zoom lens is only a 70-300 so I would begin tracking them in 70 and as I zoomed in and moved with them I was focusing too. I got plenty of misfires though, this was just one of the lucky few.
This is a great picture. The focus is excellent, the angle is great, and the subject is just incredible. I rather like F16's, as they look stunning, although I must say, I prefer the F14. Still a great shot.
I prefer f-16, until the f-22 makes it in, which I believe it just recently has ;)
Anyway, I saw they Thunderbirds 2 years ago... it's really quite the experience. I was going to see the Blue Angels with my brother but he couldn't go. Although there is a new stunt squadron, using f-15's (I forget the name)
What got me about this maneuver is that the guy on top seems to be flying blind while the guy on the bottom has the wings above in his view. It would seem to be more logical the other way around so that the guy on top could make the adjustments. The one upside down and underneath and 50 feet off the runway already has enough to do.
I like this photo. I''ll tell you one thing though, I wouldn't wanna be the pilot on the bottom! I don't even like going on roller coasters yet alone jets! Great photo Kilie!
Wow! That is amazing. I used to watch the Navy Blue Angels do air shows every year. but its been a while. Last time I saw them, they had to do a emergancy landing and that ended the show quite quick. That takes some serious chesnuts, they have my respect. Thanks for the awesome shot.
Really great capture! My only complaint would be perhaps the lack of some exposure compensation as the subjects are a little dark..composition is great though, no doubt! 8/10
Gosh this shot is "the" shot. You have done a pretty damn good job on this one. Focus and the composition is just perfect. Phew I wish I can do some thing like that. But my equipment at the moment cant :)
