I'm glad it was behind glass. My father got is doctorate in herpatology (reptile studies), so one of my jobs used to be feeding these guys. They are faster than you'd think at striking. We were camping one evening in Yuma, AZ on the lawn of the community college there when the evening guard called us to come look at a sidewinder. One of our guys tried to pin him with a snake stick and missed. The sidewinder chased him - he was running full tilt, too - at least 30 yards before giving up. Bob was barely keeping ahead of him, too. They sure are interesting animals - and lovely in their own way. Sometime I'll have to tell you about the 50 pound boa I had to take care of. :)
Sooo close. Luckily a matching background, I love that the forward roll is not in focus it shows how close he was to you, a desktop that sort of makes you sit back. Beautifully clear scales, Just lovely
Great shot of what I believe to be a Diamondback. I like the detail in the eye, because usually you don't get to see this. You can even see a bit of the pupil. I recently had to sell my Diamondback and Sidewinders and I was sorry to see them go. But I've still got my Boa. They are absolutely fascinating creatures. Again, a great shot!
oh, i'm a bit afraid of these creatures, but they look magnificent on images.. they're certainly beautiful, but i wouldn't like to approach them like nathan did.. i'm glad it was behind the glass, too :)
it has a spectacular look in its eyes..that eye looks astonishing..i'm still a bit scared. :) i love the golden tones on this image, they increase the royal spirit of this image.. this snake certainly looks like a king of all of them... especially with that frightening look!
tremendous details on this one and a stunning clarity! great focusing, it's more than a close up! simply amazing! :) thank you for sharing it with us!!!
Yeah, this is a pretty good shot! Great composition! Only problem is the top of his really blurry and the rest of him is a little blurry. I know that's probably because of the glass and lighting, but it's the only flaw I can find. Great job!

Anyhow, Great picture. Very devious and beautiful in it's terror induciveness. (is that a word?) I like how some of it is slightly blurry, but the focus of the pic is clear as day. Almost like you just woke up beside this puppy, and you have tunnel vision because you're scared out of your socks. (I know I quite possibly would be!)
Congrats on making the home page display!
Great job! Keep it up!
P.S. If you get a chance, take a look at my gallery. Any comments, criticisms, or advice on certain pics would be more than welcome!! Have an awesome day!!
