The B & W certainly adds to that.
Took a quick tour of your work posted thus far, I have to admit that this self-portrait and looking at your images makes you a bit of an enigma to me.
Hmm ... maybe not. I do see your love of things natural and nature coming to the forefront in your other images ... so ... why not?
It's a good shot ... good detail and clarity. If you did this yourself ... hand held ... well done.
