Thanks everybody for the compliments. I'm not sure what the story is behind him, I pretty much just turned the corner and there he was. There was nothing in any of the information guides about it, so I have no idea. Kinda makes you wonder how much is around Florence and other "classical" cities that only a few people (if any) know the history of.
I had this shot on my desktop for a good while when I first saw it. But you know, after seeing it every morning, I came to the conclusion that the man who the stonecutter wanted to immortalize looked a lot like Elvis.
I like the texture contrasts. The stone against the sky is striking.
