I'd like to seen this same photo with a much less shallow DOF. To much of the cotton-like detail has been lost by using too small of an f-number. I do like the choice of subject though.
I looked up Manzanita and couldn't find any that looked like this, although Manzanita is peculiar to California from the article I googled and this could just be in a different stage than the one that I saw. It is, as BorderingOrion says, a little too tight on the focal point as your subject seems to want to be seen in more broadly focused way allowing the viewer access to more of the plant itself. With that in mind, I think that a macro approach could be pleasant here...looks like a very interesting plant :)PJ
