I shot this photo of flowers and thought it needed something to make it different.

Now that's a new treatment I haven't seen before. Very interesting Don. I like the texture you gave it and the colors and lighting are just great. Thanks for sharing this piece of sunshine.

I like the effect...but I'm a buff naturally....wait..that didn't come out right :) I'm a nature buff ...lol.. I think I'm trying to say that it looks like the colors in both the leaves and the flowers are very beautiful in their own right, and I would like to see the original, but that's just me. It makes for a unique pic and one that certainly catches a person's eye :)PJ

I'm with phasmid and gerryp on the thought that the original might be as good or better. The colors look great, but I'm not a huge fan of the texture overlay.

My vote, too, would go for the original. While this is an interesting and good-looking texture, and I'd love to see it applied somewhere else, the natural texture of a flower blossom just can't be beat.

To make a flower photo different, to give that certain extra special something, you have to find the best angle (which you seem to have done here), or find them in some unusual arrangement (which you've also done to some extent) or arrange them yourself, perhaps mixed in with other blooms that will complement them and show them off to best advantage, or manipulate the lighting (which already looks great here) or use backlighting, or take a macro shot or something like that.

The color is fanstastic, to be sure! These flowers really stand out from the crowd. However, I just don't think the texture works - not only does it detract from the natural texture of the flowers, but it seems very dizzying and "stripey." I'd rather see a touched up original or a manipulation other than texturing.
