This is a newly cropped version of an earlier photo "Color in the Sun." I followed some suggestions I received to see how the different approach would look.
I don't know. I like them about equally. The like the wider view in the 1st one, but the berries are closer in the 2nd one. Actually I do like this version better in that you cropped out much of the negative space. They're both very good. I have a tough time with red and direct sunlight. While the colors are not exactly subdued, at least they're not glowing in the dark.
Think they look pretty good but could still be more dominant.
The black areas could be filled in (clone in a bit of the leaves and other vegetation), and a touch of contrast. The black areas are too large and tend to distract.
I didn't see the other version so this comment is on this one only. Great color and cropping. The focus is off only slightly. I would also set up the seen a little by flipping the leaf in the center that is back side out. The front side has a deeper and richer shade of green.
I checked the original and think that cropping has improved the shot. If you want to keep playing with it, I think a bit of color desaturating might yield an a positive result.
