I found this tree of strange posture at the Frampton Plantation, currently a Visitor Welcome Center in South Carolina. Directly to the right the land slopes sharply away as a result of earthworks carried out during the Civil War by the Confederate army under Robert E. Lee. These earthworks came in handy since a battle was later fought here. In other words, the tree may not be leaning. It might be ducking.

Looks like one of the crazy oaks around here, Ed. Ours are also filled with moss. A beautiful scene and a great place for a picnic. From my perspective, I'd say that you did a good job with the contrast in lighting although there seems to be a bit of light burning through in the upper right. Other than that, it's a good shot of a peaceful looking spot. Out of curiosity, what does the sign on the tree say?

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

I don't think I've even seen an oak tree or any tree lean that much to where the top limbs touch the ground. Wonderful detail & lighting. Superbly captured, Ed.
