This is another sandpiper shot from my time on a Florida beach. These creatures are pretty deft at keeping one step ahead of a wave. It's as though they have eyes in the back of their heads. I actually did see one fellow get partially swamped but catching that with a camera is almost impossible.

This could have used a bit more foreground sand for a better balanced composition. I think it will have more impact by cropping about 2/3rds of the water from the left border to the bird, and a tiny bit from the bottom. That should better balance the bird with the wave mass upper right.

I love watching these guys doing their little dance at the beach, Ed. They seem to keep a step ahead of the water with little effort. I agree with Doug about the foreground sand but I'm not sure about the cropping on the left. I have noticed that the beaches in Florida seem to have a steeper gradient than the ones around here. As for the details of the photo, it seems that the bird could be a little more sharply focused. The water looks great though.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.
