Pardon my ignorance but I have no idea what this architectural eccentricity is about, but when it hove into view during a boat tour along the Seine near Paris I had to snap it. I found its truncated thrust riverward kind of fascinating, as though it's a bridge that almost was. I may receive criticisms for showing too much sky but I found that almost as interesting as the structure which inclined me to be generous in including it.

It certainly is an interesting structure. Unfortunately your generosity with the sky gave it dominance over the entire image.
And with the camera meter reading that much sky, it significantly underexposed the structure and shoreline area.
However, it's not that difficult to fix. Just reverse what the light meter did. Correct the exposure for the land mass, and darken the sky area until there's detail in the central clouds area and it should be well balanced.

A very interesting structure indeed. I can't imagine what it is for...unless that disk on top is a flying saucer? Lots to look at here.

It looks like some kind of observation tower building and very interesting photo I must say.I like the light over the river and the composition too.

Yeah, do what Doug said and make it snappy. How you do all that I'm not sure, but it certainly sounds like a fix. Personally I'd crop some of the sky (even though "I found that almost as interesting as the structure") and drop the shot into PhotoScape, a free download. I'd hit about 1 and a half clicks of the backlight command.

I'm surprised you didn't recognize the structure. Apparently you never saw "Men in Black" because this is a launching bay for that flying saucer on top.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

It looks like an office complex with a great view Edwin. The communications satellite dish should bring in all that is needed.
I think we all can learn from the advice you received.
Cool shot and you would have been insane not to snap it.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.
