A very close bolt of Lightning that I captured from my front porch in Missouri tonight. I went inside to stay safe. CG lightning can occur with both positive and negative polarity. The polarity refers to the polarity of the charge in the region that originated the lightning leaders. An average bolt of negative lightning carries an electric current of 30,000 amperes (30 kA), and transfers 15 coulombs of electric charge and 500 megajoules of energy. Large bolts of lightning can carry up to 120 kA and 350 coulombs

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Wow, nice lightning shot. If I had one like that I would have used it in my entry "Spooky Desert." Instead I am trying to generate them with a computer. It's shots like yours that help me design algorithms. Stay safe there in Missouri.

I'm positive that there'll be no negative comments about this electrifying image. (Sorry about the puns, I couldn't resist it.) A brilliant image Gregg.
