It's a pity you can see the paper-grain when viewed at high res. Perhaps somebody should pass it through a low level filter? I'm not sure what the skull represents... any thoughts? Death inside us? Perhaps it is a reflection of the world through the eye(s) of the (suicidal? depressed? Realist?) subject. Note the wrinkles in the eyebrow.. worry? Fear? (I don't think so) The eye almost looks resigned.. perhaps the person has died and death is coming to greet them and they've just realised that there is no alternative. Is there a hint of sorrow?... Anyway, think about it.
I have always liked Escher's work, ever since high school. I think the skull should technically be upside down, but since this is an engraving it doesn't matter. M.C. was always messing with my head, be it incredible details or optical illusions. Anyway, it's wallpaper now...
To me, it almost seems as if it's a person who has come to see the world with an entirely jaded viewpoint. He is in anguish because he sees the world for what it really is: a gallery of the dead. Because of his angst, he slowly becomes dead himself.
the guy who's name is "HELL AINT A BAD PLACE TO BE" is treeibly terribly wrong. Dont Go to Hell, bro. Jesus Christ is ur only way not to. Accept Him and Live forever.
Another great one - thanks again for the conversion. Looks excellent. If I had two computers, I might try it, but wouldn't it be best to flip one image horizontally first?!
