I love old barns too. Still remember the one my great grandpa built on the farm where I grew up. Good memories...I like your capture on this one.

I always find them interesting as well. Cropping the sky down to just above the wind indicator, and in from the left about half way to the air vent will give this much greater impact.
Centering the main subject material is almost always the least effective, as the viewers eyes tend to wander all over the format after the initial glance. Impact is quite limited.
