....sat beside St John The Baptist Church in Chester stands the ruins of what was originally the west tower of the church which collapsed in 1881. The church has stood on this spot since the year....wait for it ................689!! The last major restoration was in 1860. The church is still in use to this day. soooo how about this for an old door??

Patti:

They sure did make things to last back then didn't they? If those doors could only tell us who has walked through them...

689?? Wow..I cant even imagine how many times those doors have opened & closed! They built this place to last the first time..but the restoration only lasted 21 years. Quite a difference! They need to get that first crew back..lol BTW..my Dad grew up near a small town called Chester here in South Dakota,US!

Now they knew what they were doing back then didn't they?. I can't imagine anything built today lasting that long. I'm with Dan= I wonder how many times that door has opened and closed . I bet it is beautiful on the inside as well. Thanks for sharing Patti.

You know, I think these type captures make the best desktops. For whatever reason, I love woor or stone accurately captured. Did you shoot this with your camera or your son's? Great natural colors. I like it.
