...this photograph is taken from the little village of Eyam in Derbyshire - it is the church in the centre of the village where many of the plague victims from the 17th century were buried. 256 of the 350 inhabitants of the village died when they isolated themselves from the surrounding areas to prevent the plague spreading. The history is grim (and the people were heroic), but the village is beautiful as is the church.

Very nice job on this one Patty, they were heroic and that's a lesson we should all learn from.

A very nice shot and interesting narrative. Now just who was this Saint Larry?

What a great writeup Patti. Just saddens me to think of those people that gave up their lives to save many others. This is a lovely clear capture with wonderful colors and depth. You've done a great job here. Thanks for sharing this one.

Well done, Patti. Excellent detail and composition. What a strange color for a clock, but then again, it's easy to read. These people deserve all the recognition they can get. What a truly heroic act.

Very educational. With the birdflue thing ever looming, I have ofte4n tought of how I might isolate myself if it ever gets bad enough. By the way, I like that blue clock. Please send it to me. No hurry.

I like this Patti......Well! you know me ..I'm a bugger for Churches and stuff!....this is real pretty and the story of it intrigued me!......I will be touring around all this places next year, thanks to your posts!.......By the way! Pat above set me thinking!.....Of all the churches I have photographed, I noticed there was a blue clock on many of them? Curious, eh!....
There must be a reason for that...I will have to investigate this a bit further!
Great post love...thanks for this!

I really like this also Patti- the light over the entrance is very interesting as well as the history here. You've described as well as shown the beauty of it. Thanks.
