....and I was off down the hill! haha! ..and you see the trellis behind my chair - that is where the praying mantis was sitting and I think the plant is his/her home. I expect it was a female as there was only one - she ate her husband for dinner! lol!

What? Your afraid of a praying Mantis? How could you be. They spend all their time praying, for crying out loud. You must have took off in a hurry. You left your glass of "water" sitting there. (Tip toes up and sneaks a sip......hum.....not bad).

Down the hill without your shoes, sure not in NC, fire ants would eat you up faster than Ms Mantis ate husband.

now Pat my chair is abandoned because I have gone for a walk - I am not afraid of the mantis - she moved so slowly I doubt she would come anywhere near me and she was too busy eating her lunch! lol! and Jas - I put on my trainers - I am not risking thorns in my feet walking through that rough ground! :)

Leaving unattended seating places is dangerous around here. You might find a mutual friend in residence when you come ;-) back. Nice one.

its an intersting show
why has the chair been abandoned the sandles and other possessions discarded like that
theres a hint of shine in the floor tiles that might suggest running away from a quick shower of rain but light and shadow in the background says the sun is back

its a pic with a story which the viewer can make up as the eye explores it

Very nice image Patti...such simplicity. You have the manual for your camera in composition...so you must have just read how to get most of this shot :))....gerry..

Aha aha ! i see you have taken a interesting studdy book with you ! hehe he, i'm also still checking mine : ) In the past the only thing you needed to know was where the release button was, and to remove the lenscap, but camera's nowadays need telephone book size to explain it all.
Anyhow , it makes interesting reading. I just imagine me sitting there, and getting out of the chair, getting the scare of my life, seeing this big praying mantis just right behind me !!
