....sometimes we see things that really stir our emotions and I have to say that is exactly what happened when I stood and looked across Lake Wolfgangsee in the Salzkammergut area of Salzburg. I went on a four hour tour of the lakes and mountains on Tuesday afternoon (just 9 in our group as I hate being part of huge groups). The sight of the lake and the surrounding mountains bought tears to my eyes - one of the few wonders I have witnessed that have made me feel like that. I know I am posting out of order here and I do deviate as many of you know lol!, but I had to share this with you. I have made no adjustments to the contrast of this photograph - just sharpened it slightly - this is as seen. I have lots more of the lake and some more panoramic views, so will post more later as well as the quaint buildings in the villages surrounding the lake.

This is indeed a lovely post, and I find it amazing...because I've had it happen to me too...that there are sights in nature that can touch us in an inner place. yes and even move us to tears, that can't be described in words or even in thoughts to ourselves. I'm glad you shared this piece of yourself with us, as it brings all of us closer when we reveal some of what makes our inner selves tick. Thank you, my friend...looking forward to more scenes from this excursion you took. :)PJ

It's stunning Patti. I agree with Pat above, everyone is just getting too good for me to be out here among such Pros. Lovely color, composition and serenity. You've done it all here. Thanks for sharing it my friend.

I don't know how you feel about borders but I would love to see it without one. Just as you have seen it with your own eyes... I believe this picturesque view could have triggered a tear or two. The scenery is simply breathtaking.

thank you for all your kind comments and for your suggestion Ewa, but I think maybe the image is too rectangular to post without a border and I really did not want to crop any of it to make it the right size to fill the screen ...and Bob I was on dry land lol! The tour was four hours - one hour spent touring the countryside and seeing the views and the rest of the time spent walking around the villages and around the lakes. In the Summer they include a boat trip too - I am thinking about going back again sometime next year because there is so much more to see and I need to go up one of those mountains too! :)

Grown man may not cry or let a teardrop, but sshhhhtttt... it happend to me once or twice(or more) as well in the Alps, so i know the feeling. You just have to wipe it out quickly and blame the nasty wind for it or blame that darn fly..hehe he. The wolfgang see is nice indeed, i have driven along it 3 times in 2005. did you also go to the Hallstattersee ?

Definitely the type of scenery that can stir the 'ol emotions up Patti! Unfortunately there are getting to be few places that do that anymore for human interference. I have encountered several however in the last few years that leave you with mouth agape; barely able to breathe, much less fire the camera, for the awe you feel the first time you set eyes on it. You just stand back unable to take your eyes off it & the feeling starts to rise up. Then you finally force yourself to move & start capturing it for your memories. This looks like that type of place for sure, and your capture of it is beautiful, Patricia!

I find myself (today) in conflict with many emotions. If I were to have access to a small craft with a worthy sail and was able to set off onto this lake and allowed to drift unnoticed and unbothered by the world for a time I feel most of my conflicts would be respolved. Thank you for the photo.
