....lol! good job I bought a book on Salzburg or I would never have been able to remember these names, let alone say them. ....This statue, called the Pferdeschwemme (Horse Pond) was built in 1695. The horses from the archbishop's stables were washed here. ...and it is empty at the moment - there was quite a lot of work going on around the city preparing for Christmas, so I think they were cleaning everything up in readiness. There were already two Christmas market stalls and a Christmas tree ready for decorating in the Alter Markt (market place). ...but I am deviating as usual - the paintings behind this statue were really something and I would really have liked to get lower down and had the horse statue silhouetted against the cliff edge of Mönchsberg, but the area was chained off.

When has a little bitty chain stopped you before Patti?? LOL Love this! The paintings and your captures of them & the horse statues are terrific! Wonder if they would mind if I "borrowed" a couple of those to hang on my own walls for awhile?? LOL This looks awesome..I like the way it buts right up against what appears to be a sheer cliff of rock. This one goes into my favs now! Thanks Patti! C):-) *

Yes, I agree. Why don't they call it "horse pond?" Very good as usual Patti, and I too would have had to buy a book to remember the spelling/pronuction (how to say it).

Outstanding photograph. The murals alone are gorgeous ... the statue magnificient and the cliffs behind make this almost surealistic. Wonderful focus throughout Patti. The apartments are a tad distracting but I'm guessing you didn't have a "wrecking ball" in your camera case. There's a lesson to be learned there. LOL I repeat ... Outstanding photograph.

No reason to be angry about chains or anything. The image is just perfect. You really felt in love with Salzburg, I can see that.

I'm glad to see that you're enjoying yourself, because when you do, we all do :) I was contemplating doing some building removal for you, but I wasn't sure how you'd feel about it. Anyway the subject is fascinating and maybe you could do a little discreet chain hopping ..lol.. :)PJ

The is a nice capture of the horse statue...I like the angle you set-up the shot. Did you happen to see the statue of Phenscmitzenfuglappenaufknoodlemitzluken? (lol)

Oh wow. Time and time again I find myself looking at your work. Very eye catching stuff. I like the fact that you had the architecture in the back. Too bad you couldn't get the cliff in the back. But hey, some things weren't meant to be. :)
