...and a closer look at Stift Nonnberg the convent on the south side of the Hohensalzburg Fortress and founded in the year 700!! ..and sometimes called "Marias convent" for obvious reasons! Amazing historical building! I walked around the grounds and I might well have been back in the year 700 - it was so quiet and no-one was around! That was one thing I really enjoyed about my visit. I was there mid-week and inbetween celebrations and there weren't too many tourists around (except me of course! lol!)

An interesting shot and thanks for the information about it. The only thing that distracts from it (and this has nothing to to with you or the photograph) is the bulletin board on the wall on the left. That's because it takes away from the history of the place I don't think they had them in 700. Oh well, that's progress. Congrats on your winning too.

Hard to believe it is that old, and I agree about the bulletin board, shame it is there. Fabbu as always.

i believe the king of this hiistorical building left you a note on the door. " No tourists allowed here" but you risked your life and took a nice shot.

It's so nice to see this church both in this upload and the last. I love the Von Trapp story..always have, and it was of great interest to me to learn that they finally settled not too far from where I live now in Vermont on a farm/showpiece that is still maintained today. Thanks for showing us this most interesting of historic builidngs :)PJ
