....standing in a commanding position overlooking the little village of Hartington in Derbyshire is the 13th century church of St Giles. I have omitted the tower from this photograph as it is under reconstruction and stands to the left out of sight. The church is unusual in that it's walls are made of Staffordshire redstone, Derbyshire limestone and gritstone giving it a reddish appearance. The cottage I posted last night sits to the right of the church and overlooks the gravestones, sooooo I expect a few of you have fled! lol! The flowers I posted this morning can be seen lining the borders around the church in this photograph. Also there is a gargoyle on the wall resembling someone we all know quite well! ;) ps if you check the link you will see there is a little cheese shop in the village which sells the most scrumptious cheese - I bought a huge piece of Stilton and it has all gone! :P)
