.....and that is just what he is - an Andean Condor or Vultur gryphus - gryphus coming from the Greek word for hooked nose, and isn't he beautiful! The largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere with a huge wingspan of over 3 metres!! I was so excited to capture the Condor with full wingspan at Chester Zoo. It is one of a breeding pair of Condors and is housed in a huge aviary which has a rocky landscape. I managed to get the outer fence out of focus but the background did look messy on my original photograph, so now I have removed the background and he is now surveying the land of Stirling in Scotland! lol! He looks right at home there! ;)
