........one of the many beautiful facades surrounding the courtyard of the Vatican in Rome, this has to be the most impressive with the inscription of Pope Pius VII.

Oh I'm so late commenting on this - I did try this morning but it wasn't there! This reminds me of a postcard - or a postage stamp. It's funny how that aesthetic, the straight columns in front of a facade, the stone steps, the ochre wall behind and the statues, seems so authoritative and - well, just right. A lovely shot. The textures in the paint on the wall are my favourite.
