.....the Menara gardens in Marrakech - at the gates of the Atlas mountains and a wonderful peaceful retreat from the madness of the city centre. The gardens were created by the Almohad ruler Sultan Adu r-Rahman in the 12th century. The name menara derives from the pavilion with its small green pyramid roof (menzeh), which was built during the 16th century Saadi dynasty and renovated in 1869 by sultan Abderrahmane of Morocco, who used to stay here in summertime.

The Atlas Mountains must be particularly beautiful, when contrasted with the Mediterranean to semi-arid climate north of them and the Sahara to the South.

This is just gorgeous Fogz. Makes me think of 'The Far Pavilions' do you remember that? It goes into my faves anyway, such a beautiful combination of the green trees breaking up the line of icy mountains in the distance, the warm tones and square shape of the building which of course you have placed perfectly, and the shimmering reflections. A real beauty and worth way more than 69.
