It was one of those days that the sun was in and out from behind the clouds. When the clouds blocked the sun the image was flat and lacked interest. When the clouds parted and the slate roof of the temple lit up it was a wonderful sight! The challange was to capture the image in full sunlight BUT without any tourists in the image. Because of the hundereds of tourists and worshipers., this image was almost given up for a lost cause. Finally everything happened. The lighting on the roof was perfect and the crowd had parted for only seconds. I managd to hold off of my exposure until three tourists had become hidden. Can you find them?

I love this one too. You always seem to get it just right. I found the tourists.

This is one incredible image. You must have a saints patience to have been granted this sliver of an opportunity. The lighting really does add to the temple. This is really lovely - wish I were there. Like Morwyn, I did find the tourists, but won't blow it for the other "find Waldo's". :)

Tough situation, I think you made the very best of it. Lots of contrast, but you got detail in the light roof and the dark mountain while keeping good exposure and color balance in the temple itself. Nice job hiding the tourists, that required excellent timing!Compositionally, I think I'd like to see just a touch more of the bridge curving down into the foreground, but I really don't know how you could have gotten that without loosing the balance between the temple and the trees framing it...the trees really do a good job of balancing and containing the lines of the temple...so I think your framing was the right choice.

I think the framing is exceptional. I had several comments in mind, and then read those just above. It's gratifying to find it isn't just me experiencing these contrast problems, washed skies, and such. In looking at this shot, my first thought was how very well you had handled the situation. It's an awesome job, Bob, truly is... 10.

I agree. Tough situation to take a picture in. You've done an admirable job here. I enjoye the detail of the architecture - the texture of the placec.

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

This is a great shot Bob and well captured given the challenges facing you.

I did find the shy tourists. They're on their way to the McDonalds just to the left of the temple. *wink*

Well done Bob. Wonderful image.

Aren’t tourist so inconsiderate hanging around hoping you will take their picture:-)
I think you done an excellent job here, though I think a slightly lower viewpoint would have shown the roof on the right a little better. Otherwise its excellent in every other aspect.

Wow that shows a lot of patience. It was worth it because it looks like one of those incredible pictures you see in a brochure where you think they have all the people cordoned off to the side while they take the shot.
Is that snow? Or gleam from the sun? Quiet

Great job Bob.Accipiter summed it up well. The composition is right for this diffucult shot and using the bridge brings one right to the temple.

Wow! Appearances can be so deceiving! If I hadn't read your comments about the photo I would never have guessed that there were hundreds of tourists flocking about. Well Done! It makes such a beautiful tranquil wallpaper. Thank you! I love this photo:-))

I really like this shot, the sun shinning on the tiles really makes it surreal! Your patience has paid off, it was really worth the wait for a clear shot. I like your framing too, the trees, the temple and the mountain - thanks for sharing it with us!

This photo is absolutely magnificent. I love the temple itself, but even more jaw dropping are the mountains behind it. Please, please tell me where this is.

Thank you for sharing, I have saved a special place in my favourites for this image.

That's funny, I looked at the picture before reading your synopsis and was thinking "This has to be fake! There aren't any people in the shot! Where are all the buddhist priests..."
Great job!!!! It's a gorgeous picture.
