This image is dedicated to, Neamh (Rob) in Massachusetts who is feeling like I do when the weather keeps you inside. What do I do when I am forced to stay inside when the weather is bad and my creative juices are screaming to make an image? I set up and do still life's. This one was created in front of a nortlight facing window. One reflector card was used to fill in the shadow side. My concern about this image is the chair in the background. I put it there to instill a feeling of warmth and comfort. It also eliminated a void in the image. My question is this. Do you find the chair distracting? Comments please.

Like this, Bob...Weather has been bad for cameras even here way down south, I need to think about this kind of work to give my equipment something to do. Not long for us here and the weather will be back, hang in there.

The weather here is nasty, too. This just increases my opinon of you as an artist. The chair is barely visable, so it does not detract in any way. I really like the sepia tones in this one.

I actually like the chair in the background. It does add warmth and feels like a visit to grandma's house. Nice job!

Well Robert, I too can barely see the chair in the image. This does welcome you with the opened candy dish just like at Grandma's house. Even my two yr old has commented on your image.
Well done.

I was instantly attracted to this image, mainly because of the warm browns you've used. I love this image. It's uncluttered, and very "Grandmotherish" ;)

Thank You Bob for the honor of dedicating to me an image such as this..An amazing still life. The level of skill is apparent with the perfect highlights ,the clarity and the overall great brown tone. The chair is the enticement to sit and enjoy. You have certainly made my day.

First off, great shot. Second, no I dont think the chair is distracting, however, I think the color should have been less yellow and more grey (like the foreground) to match, therefore making it standout less. But very nice job, i like it,

Great shot Bob.... has the lovely warm "olde" feel to it... the chair adds to the image... gives it a "homely" feel... very well done.. love it

I like teatime a little better because of the shapes of the tea set please my eye a bit more than the candy dish (but of course that is just personal). But I think the background chair is the key that takes both these images to the "next level" of visual impact and quality. This is true for strictly visual reasons...you filled a void, but subtly and in harmony with everything else. But I also respond to the chair as an invitation to "enter" the image, and sit down in the calm light to relax. Without the chairs, both images would still be pleasing, but would lack an extra "something" that I think makes them superior.

Very lovely..and no I dont think the chair is distracting at all....Robert, I do the same thing, when weather is bad I do still lifes...only problem is my didital finally died! So soon I will hope to get a new one....and enjoy still life and macro again...I think its such fun to put these together and you've done a great job on this. I love the format you chose...I think the little figurine and the light just makes it!!
