This will be my last post for the next 10 days, Annie and I are off again, searching for that perfect image. We arrived at the Grand Canyon early in the afternoon. It started to snow, heavy. Annie and I discussed the possibilities of a good image or two the next morning. Found a hotel room We arose early to find that the canyon was covered with heavy fog. It was just a matter of finding a good composition, set up the cameras and wait. The fog started to lift in about four minutes.

This is a first for me. I've never seen a shot of the Canyon in snow/fog. This is headed to favs. It's all composed well and I even like the view from the window framed by the branches. Almost enough to make me a morning person. ;)

Oh my goodness do you ever take the nicest pictures, Bob. I love how you've got something near and far, but most of all the glimmers off the snow. I'd resolved myself to not look at another winter picture until mid-Aug, but this one I couldn't resist! Quiet

It does not happen too often, but there are times in my life I feel...well...jealous, I guess.
AND THIS IS ONE OF THEM!
I have this proposition: leave Annie home so I can come with you...or better: you stay home and I go with Annie and finish your tour! Then you can sit in my office where it is at the moment 30'C celsius.
Well, what do you say? Good deal?

Anyway, I vote: 10

The framing with the tree is great, the view of the far side of the canyon through the branches is another one of those pictures within a picture that you do so well. Somehow this image has an oriental feel to it, which is no bad thing either. By the way I had no idea that it snowed there either. I hope you both have a wonderful trip. Keep your eyes open and the cameras handy.

Love the composition. The tree frames it quite well. And the exposure is dead on. One note of criticism is that the border around the image is a bit jagged in spots. Not sure if that is intentional or not. That's not enough for me to not add this to my favorites, though.

Quiet and I were chatting over this image. Neither of us have ever seen a Grand Canyon shot with snow. Bob.. this is a stunning image, an amazing capture. It would be great to see others of the series of shots you undoubtably shot as the fog abated.

wow.. i also haven't seen this place covered with snow.. but i must say, it looks beautiful. this is also an amazing image and i like the framing as well. i'm not a huge fan of light wallpapers, i prefer dark ones, but this one looks too darn good! it'll look great as a wallpaper :)
the lighting is very nice, indeed.. nice colour contrasts, too. but the position you've picked is perfect, i like this perspective :) and the fog.. it makes the whole image magical.... it really is.

thank you for sharing..and enjoy your day :)

Great perspective. Outstanding shot! I can't say i could really improve this. but if there was, maybe i would say it would be cool to have more shots continuing this photo on to the left but seperated by narrow borders to make it feel like a window. im' finding your photography to be really exciting stuff.

Spot-on, my friend. Spot-on. I have never seen a photo of the canyon with snow. This is a fabulous shot, too. The curves of the tree seem to be picked up and continued by the curves in the striations on the canyon walls. The white snow and the fog softens what are normally very harsh lines, and turns the whole scene into something out of a fairy tale. You have produced art here, my friend.

Hi Bob! My first reaction when I saw this picture was: wow, so untraditional winter, but that's exactly what makes it so outstanding! No need to say the picture is so balanced and in the same time so full of little different elements, every one of them valuable in it's own, but really powerful it their togetherness as a composition! Good job as always!
Have a Very Merry Christmas!

Wow Bob, I just found this image. Am I ever glad that I did. The textures that you captured here are magnificent. The fog, the trees, the snow, the rocks, the leaves. All of the softly muted colors blend together to make this an oustanding photo. I am glad that you & Annie managed to get your equipment set-up before the fog began to lift. What a magical moment that must have been. I imagine the whole trip was beautiful eh? Job well done my friend :~0

Gorgeous image, well composed and framed. Really great work with the exposure - snow can be so difficult to properly meter. I usually end up bracketing a half dozen of the same shot to get it right and even then often have to combine images for the best exposure. Well done! anne :-)

There are tons of websites for uploading snapshots - photos of your neice, back yard, etc. "Caedes Man" did not start this website for that purpose. His intent was to offer a venue for folks to share artistic images that could be used as desktop backgrounds. Does anyone really want an out of focus shot of a dog for a desktop background? probably not. Let's share the good stuff and help others by telling them what's good or how to improve an image. We could all make Caedes a great site for everyone and use those other places for the snapshot sharing. A first rate family snap sharing website is www.easysite.com. FREE website to share all your snaps plus a whole lot more. Thanks for giving honest and usable feedback. Blessings to all, anne :-)
