The weather in the Rocky Mountains is extremely unpredictable.Jefferson Mountain, located in South Park, Colorado is a good example. It was about 68 degrees when I captured this image. The clouds behind the mountain were moving in a giant snowstorm. By the time I had reached the summit of Kenosha Pass, to the right in the image, the temperature had dropped to 34 degrees. The following day the pass was experiencing 100 mile per hour winds. Welcome to Colorful Colorado

Wow, stunning landscape. The inclusion of so much sky really emphasises the imminent change in weather that you describe. Nicely planned and executed piece.

Cheers........

Hello Robert..its always soooo good to see your wonderful photos ! And isn't it amazing how a mountain like this can appear as though it's covered with "powdered sugar snow" can suddeny change like that...But it is sooo gorgeous to see the clouds laying on top like that...Everything looking so peaceful..And by your having the small homes showing, it makes one realize the majestic size of those mountains. I've seen the Rockies in Colorado and up here in Montana...and they are so aweinspiring. You are out there in this weather taking such beautiful photos..you're a brave man to weather all that..but even tho I know you have your "brrrrrrrr" times, that yu love every moment of it!! Thank you my friend, for allowing us all to see so much beauty!!...verena

I echo Paul Gerritson's comments, simply incredible photo! What a capture Robert. I see nothing like this on the east coast and only hope that one day I might experience the grandeur of these mountains in person. Breathtaking, I'm sure.

What an awesome cloud, it looks as though it’s about to boil over somehow. That’s a curious building too, it looks like a townhouse that got lost in the country. It’s a grand view you have given us and it’s appreciated because we have nothing remotely like it in our country.

It looks as if an avalanche is coming down... The powerful clouds make the photo dynamic. And the colour palette is exactly what I adore most. Thank you.

This came up in my random voting Robert and BOY am I glad it did.
This is just plain magnificent. The atmospherics are the crowning touch. You are right in your earlier comments about sharing the same likes and feelings about the great outdoors.
I think I'm going to spend a day or two wandering through your "Gallery"

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life. Since man is mortal, the only immortality possible for him is to leave something behind him that is immortal since it will always move. This is the artist’s way of scribbling; “Kilroy was here” on the wall of the final and irrevocable oblivion through which he must someday pass.

Beautiful Colorado indeed. It amazes me, truly amazes me, the variety of sights we see through our simple human eyes. But for the opportunity to travel, in life or vicarously through such gifted pictures, we could never know the full beauty of God's creations. An so, through your gift of this posting, we each live a bit and see a bit more through your eyes.

Thank you.

Gorgeous shot mate. It looks even better with a tighter crop though. At least it does to me. There's far too much uninteresting sky at the top. Cropping it to 16x10, just wide enough to include the buildings to the left and right, gives it so much more impact.
