In this pic im stood up to my knees in freezing Dartmoor water.... i watched 2 of these fluttering about, and they definatley did not want to sit still... took over 1/2 hr to get this pic.. I think this is a damselfly rather than a dragonfly, and it was beating its wings like a butterfly, very graceful *edit* i belive this is Calopteryx virgo

Balanced on the leaf just like how an airplane stands on the ground! Lovely shot - I don't think I would have had that much patience.

Very intense coloring here, and I actually gave it a very high score in the voting booth. I'm not sure what's going on with that 40 I'm seeing, but I think there must be a gremlin that resides behind the voting booth that every once in a while wakes up and jostles the machine :(

Very much worth the wait and effort! The clarity and colours are superb... I think maybe PJ is right about those gremlins, though.
