Mixed up a little of my old style and a little of the new one. I tried to create dark atmosphere. ...not like black is dark but... uh, maybe you get my point.
Hey, it came out great. The left border doesn't stand out too much, it looks nicer than when it was blask. I really like those bright colours on the right. You did great jod this time.
I finished this in the middle of night so the quality isn't so impressive.... Now I look it I don't like it so much any more :( It's way too messy and those images doesn't fit together at all....:S Maybe it's the colours and how I set up the image... I just loved the atmosphere with that lampthing and tried to create a whole wallpaper but one can't always win...
Ok, I've been thinking. I'm still not 100% sure what to say, but here are some main points: The textures are very good. Intriguing to say the least. Particularly in the darker border to the left, they draw me in for a closer inspection... (For example it makes me wonder: Is that a silhouette of a head up there or is it just my imagination? And it looks like japanese calligraphy down there.)
The "bigger", right part of the image looks nice but it doesn't have the same depth as the left border for some reason. I can't quite say why though. Maybe it's the bright colors that makes the contrast between the inverted silhouettes and the surroundings quite large. Makes me think about "pop art". I'm not sure if more muted colors would do the trick though. I really like the silhouettes you have used in the right part. And the textures here are very nice too.
When I think about it I think it's the placement of the lamp "thingie" paired with the strong contrast to the surroundings that is the weak point of the piece. The lamp is really cool. It's not that, and the colors and all that is quite nice, it's not that either (although some of them are not in my favourite nuances)... Like I said, I think it's hard to make up my mind... I keep coming back to the composition of the elements in the image or rather the placement of that lamp. It's too centered for my taste.
What it does visually (for me) is taking up disproportionate much attention. Even if it is organic and interesting in the shapes, and not strictly symmetrical, it gets too strict and formal like this. If it had been placed more to one side that might have been enough to keep the visual tension and keep the eyes to wander in the piece to explore all the fine details and shadings.
I think some darker shades in the "right" part of the image could make the contrasts to the silhouette less harsh (like it is in the left border). Also, in the left border the "white" stains or inverted silhouettes or what to call it have a nice warm hue. The lamp and other light parts of the right side of the piece have a cold baseline hue of white and that makes the contrasts here even harsher... I feel the whole would have been better "kept together" and possibly, would have gotten more depth, if you had used warmer hues in the right part too.
But I'm not sure... :P
Ok, that's about it. I'm not sure it is of any help. I should have made a more concise and focused comment but it just turned out this way... (I feel I kept repeating myself...) Sorry. ;)
Almost reminds me of some of Cain's work, (big compliment!) I love all the different things happening throughout the image, it's nice to look at. I am, again, amazed. Keep it up.
to me it seems like a twisted London picture :-) it's really cool that you created something that conveys different feelings/ images to different people. very nice work, so inspiring
