I wasn't really sure whether to leave the middle empty or put a fractal in it, let me know what you think. Any comments or suggestions welcome!

why not? we will never know unless you take that bold step into the unknown, experiment with the colour possibilities of the new centre....errm obviously that will be time consuming

I would leave it like this. It looks to me like a tunnel that forks - lots of "scope for imagination".
