To the Mini-Mart on East Borkle Street, where Billie Jean Boodwah broke my heart, in a '65 Corvair station wagon (what can I say; I was a nerd), when she told me she wouldn't wait for me, when I went off to join the National Guard, and 10 weeks was just too long for her, but her younger sister kinda had an eye for me, although I didn't know it at the time, but it worked out okay 'cuz she's been my accountant for the past 20 years, down here at the tire store, and I... uhmmm... I... I forgot the question. Oh, yeah! To the cornfield on the other end of these trees. I love corn.

Sorry about that bit of goofiness up there. Sometimes I think I'm writing a short story for its entertainment value. Actually, I'm already quite a ways along on this road, just past that light spot way down there, I think, and my new love is the one I've had for 37+ years. She just seems new to me sometimes, but dedication to one person for that long can do that to you.

Yours is a fairly simple photograph but, for some people, I'm sure it will evoke memories. For myself, when I was 19, working in the Philippines, I had to walk down a mountain from sick bay back to my small Navy base, and it was down a barely used back road. If there were a few palm fronds laying on this road it could be the spittin' image of it. But the first thing that came to mind was an old black and white episode of The Twilight Zone called "The Hunt", in which an old man dies while out hunting and then, without realizing he's dead, has to walk a long road to his final destination. One of the better episodes back then, it also spoke of dedication.

Looking back through your gallery I think you have a decent eye for images, that you're experimenting (always a good thing, no matter how long you're in the craft), but I also think you need to invest in a better camera if you want to really have some fun. Just a thought.
