Jacanas are found in both Central and South America and there are several species. The Northern Jacana is found in Central America. This bird was photographed in the canals of Tortuguero, Costa Rica. They have extremely large feet that allow them to displace their weight when walking on floating plants.

He's a beautiufl bird, love hise colours and markings Garrett. Fabulous capture with him hurting for dinner. That's amazing they can walk on water plants, that must be something to see in person.

What a beautfiul bird, Garrett, but the yellow on the head seems very unusual. I wonder if both the female and the male are marked this way. He is such a rich color of brownish red. Just remarkable. I love that Caedes lets us see birds from all over the world.
