Yeh! Fall is truly here and the light has changed dramatically. In the summer light in So California is overhead and hot. In the fall the sun is much lower in the sky and the light is more directional. I found this egret wading in a creek. The sun was on its head and neck, hence the sparkle in its eye, but every where else the sun was not shining on directly appears black. Yeh! Fall is here! I have not altered the background of this image at all. Only the light of fall.

Wow this is one stunning photography and i love the nice sharp detail and colours in the birds beck and eye.Plus the light in the birds eye brings it to life.

I like this, Garrett, for it's details and subject. I'm a sucker for a good close-up of egrets and herons. Having said that, this looks very flat in tone, and colors a bit washed. Perhaps livening it up in editing would bring Mr/Ms Egret to his/her proper glory?

I didn't realize the light did that Garrett. Boy, do I have a lot to learn.
I can see some definition in the background.

Great shot. On black pulls out the bird beautifully. Well done Garrett.

Elegant pose. I too love the lighting on the egret. Details, especially his eye is wonderful. I'm looking forward to the light changes these next months. : )
