Early Sunday morning it poured rain. I found this young Red Shouldered Hawk drying its feathers in the morning's sun. A point of interest is that the bird is on one leg. This is a relaxed or resting position for all birds. It told me that it was not bothered by my presense and that it had no intention of flying off. It must have been a tough night for the bird from the looks of its tail feathers.

Love how puffed out he is. Not only does it look like he's drying off, it looks like he's showing of his handsome feathers to everyone. He has the "look at me, I'm handsome" pose. A great shot of the hawk.

Superb looking photo yet again, stunning detail and great light and shade over the bird.I love how it as it wings open slightly so it can pick up the moving air and sun rays to dry it self. The pale blue background real brings the bird forward too.

beautiful image and composition. the focus is right on and the position of the bird is perfect. the only criticism i could give is maybe it could have a little more contrast and saturation (just slightly) and the twig that crosses over the bird completely and up to its beak is slightly distracting. but overall a beautiful image, and red-tailed hawks are my favorite bird.
