I was at my favorite spot watching one of the Ospreys, when it suddenly leaped from its perch and dove on a Gull scavenging something dead in the water. With its talons extended it stole the piece of meat that the Gull was eating and took off with the Gull in hot pursuit. I wasn't in position to capture the actual steal, but I was able to capture part of The Chase. I am still learning about my camera and shooting moving objects so there are some depth of field issues. If I could do it again I would raise my f-stop to f-16 instead of f-8. I guess that is the challenge of wildlife photography.......no do overs.

I have to disagree Garret. I think its perfect just the way it is my friend. Great action. I love the way you capture the brutal side of nature.

The position of the birds is quite beautiful, almost like two dancers, until you realise what is happening. Not sure I agree with the f stop comment. I would have thought f8 would get the depth of field you need, as would an even lower f-stop, and this would allow faster shots to improve the clarity and keep the background blurred which works well in my book. But then, I don't take wildlife photo's so might well be wrong.

Garrett, it doesn't look like it was, as mentioned above, an issue with f-stop. Rather, it would appear that the lens didn't lock on in time. Were you using C-AF with "spot" focus?

Still and all, the drama of the shot certainly made it a fun view. So, thanks for sharing.
