A week before there were no geese at the pond. This week I got to the pond a little earlier approx 7:00 am. There was all king of noise. When I looked closer there were over 200 geese. I set my camera up and shortly there after they began taking off in groups of 20 - 30. The fog complicated the issue by reducing both the light and contrast. I shot at an ISO of 1600 but probably should have shot at an ISO of 3200. Oh well, live and learn. The next day I went back to make adjustments, but they have already left. Better luck next week.

I love the way the sun is hitting the goose on the left and the barely visible geese in the background. Fantastic angle on these two low flyers, and the quality of the shot is super. Great looking shot all around, Garrett.

I think you ended up with a good shot, I do agree with Jimbob, the lighting on the one on the left, and the ones hidden by the fog, make for a pretty darn good capture. =^..^=tigs♥

Great capture Garrett - I love the unusual lighting of the sun on the left bird. The ones still floating in the hazy background really give the shot a nice touch.

Fog does make things a bit more challenging, but I like the results you got in this one. I like the bit of sunlight on the one goose too. Very well done, Garrett.

It looks like they have their heads stuck through the fog shroud, Garrett. Lighting is good and the one on the pond add to the mystic scene.

Wonderful action shot, they are just so amazing to watch and hear. We get thousands since we are on one of the major flyways for the geese here in North America. You can tell the are heading south by the rising sunlight shining on the body of the one. They sure have big wing spans.

Canadian Geese take cues from the position of the sun, moon, and stars in the sky; geographic landmarks like rivers and mountains; and magnetic fields invisible to the human eye. It's really interesting to hear them flying over in the darkness of night.
