You are very lucky to get so close to a heron and this is one stunning close up give of all the birds detail and by the look of this shot it says it just finished cleaning itself .The reed adds a nice feel to this shot plus great natural colours too.

Beautiful closeup of the magnificent blue heron Garrett!!! One of my favorites in the bird kingdom. You were lucky to be so close - whenever I see a heron or it sees me, off it flies. Excellent capture!!!

As with all photo's, it's being in the right place, at the right time and being knowledgeable enough to have the correct camera settings for the situation.

Wow, this is a breath taking shot wish such outstanding detail and colour, those eyes are focused on something. Wonder what was in his bill, maybe he had been grooming and they are feathers.
