This was taken yesterday. These Monarchs gather along shores of Lake Erie, mainly at a Canadian National Park called Point Pelee which is the shortest distance for them to travel across the lake to Ohio. They are on their migration route which takes them to central Mexico. One of their main sourses of sustenace is the Milkweed plant which is in abundance in Mexico. I find it amazing that such a fragile little creature travels that far.

Isn't it wonderful when they do their migration Gerry. I love to watch them and you've captured them beautifully here. Lovely lighting and perfectly wonderful lush green to show them off. What a delightful sight this is. Def a keeper.

Gerry, I can totally identify with the difficulty in taking photos of these lovely creatures! This is a marvelous display and what a treat it is to see them. If I can find out how many generations it takes to get from Mexico to Canada, I'll let you know. - Patty

Wee, 4 for the price of one. Well, you learnt me sum things about the butterfly I didn't know. I can't imagine the little things traveling from Lake Erie to central Mexico. That would be a long trip for a trucker not to mention a butterfly. Great commentary and capture.

This is something I have wanted to see for years, but have never gotten the chance to do it. And I live only about 45 miles from there! This image reminds me to do my best to see this wonder this year. Thanks for sharing!
And for anyone who is interested, Here's the full story about this migration

Never rebuke while you’re still indignant about a fault committed—wait until the next day, or even longer. Then calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You’ll gain more by a friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel. -Josemaria Escriva

How I envy you! I'd love to see the monarch migration. Sometimes they completely cover a tree. This is a great capture. Thanks!

How lovely it is when unexpected blessings come into my life to cheer me up and put a smile into my heart. Help me to pass them on, dear Lord. Fay Angus
