This image was taken last week out at Nature Preserve. It was an about an hour after daybreak on a very foggy morning. I walk through this bush almost everyday and a lot of my posts are from this area. The bush area here is all deciduous trees and is part of what is known as the Carolinian forest of North America. Where I live, in southern Ontario, Canada, is the most northern reach of the Carolinian forest. Right now my goal is to capture on camera the Deer that are in this area. There is a lot of Deer around this area right now as it is mating season. This same morning I took this photo I seen a doe about 30 yards from me in the mist but missed the shot because did not have right camera setting... but i will keep trying and eventually get some photos of them to post...

That is amazing. You managed to capture something that I've been bugging my mom to draw: this sleepy feeling of end, when life retreats into a shell, into itself. And there is sadness all about, in the mist, in the bronze stalks of grass, who are lonely even as they stand among many bretheren. I'd like to ask you to spend 24 hours 7 days a week there, and just take pictures of whatever you find beautiful.

If I see this in the VB it will certainly be a 10. I am mean with my 10's and only give them when I think a picture is exceptional and has that X factor. This one does. Thanks for such a lovely scene.

This is exceptional work Gerry, so misty and moody and the colours are wonderful. I agree with Lyn, definite X-factor and definite 10. Now if you could just capture a deer in there I'm sure the result would be phenominal. Good luck, I wait with baited breath:)

You know Gerry, where I live I call it "Valley of the Clouds" as we have so much fog so very often...and I have tried and tried to capture the softness of the fog..and I just cannot master it...and you have done such a wonderful job on your soft fog photos..how do you do it?? Got any secrets to share? The colours of the trees give such wonderful depth and dimension....I love both of your foggy photos..sooooo nice !! Verena

Great shot, love the mist. Foreground tree is a little too sharp for the image though at full screen.
