Took this photo of this American Coot in marsh out at Point Pelee national park...which is a well known bird watcher's area. This park is along shore of Lake Erie about an hours drive for me. Used Nikon D50 with Tamron 70-300 lens set at 240mm shutter 1/250 aperture F/5.3 ISO 200

I've never seen one of these Gerry. Looks like he has an eye in the middle :) Nice clarity and composition. Thanks for sharing him.

After a bit of an absence, partly vacation but mostly tax season...busy for bookkeeping businesses... I'm glad to be back out here with at least 'some' regularity. I've missed everyone and am glad to have a little more time again.

I used to see lots of these in Sackville waterfowl park in New Brunswick. The babies would go on the adults backs. Nice shot!

Neat shot! I wouldn't know one coot from another! I'm glad you tell us though.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I had the same thought as Patti. I'm getting a little jumpy with all the crocs that show up here from the swampland, but that's not where you're from so I won't be afraid to open yours up!!! Great capture of this coot, and he doesn't look old to me at all. Wonder where that saying came from ?
