About a couple of months back a friend of mine from where I used to work told me that her and her husband had found three ophaned Kestrel chicks and had taken them in and were raising them. They farm a few acres outside the city and raised these birds in their barn. I told her I was going to get out and see these birds but did not get hold of her till last week. She informed me that two of the birds had begun to fly and that they released the two but third one was not flying yet. So went out last week and took some pictures. This Falcon is the smallest Raptor in North America but is the most colorful...in decades past it was known as the Sparrow Hawk..I don't usually photograph birds in captivity but must say it is a lot easier than in wild...

Very well done, Love the tilt of the head and how well focused you got him. What colorful feathers they have also. Never have seen this type of bird before, thank you for the the background info.

Such a lovely looking bird, a wonderful image and a wonderful thing this couple is doing for these birds. Beautiful, Gerry. Boy, that must have been thrilling to see.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
