About a couple of months back a friend of mine from where I used to work told me that her and her husband had found three ophaned Kestrel chicks and had taken them in and were raising them. They farm a few acres outside the city and raised these birds in their barn. I told her I was going to get out and see these birds but did not get hold of her till last week. She informed me that two of the birds had begun to fly and that they released the two but third one was not flying yet. So went out last week and took some pictures. This Falcon is the smallest Raptor in North America but is the most colorful...in decades past it was known as the Sparrow Hawk..I don't usually photograph birds in captivity but must say it is a lot easier than in wild...
