This picture of this Great Egret was taken this past Spring at the pond in Malden park which is a city park bordering on Nature Preserve that I frequent. I am not sure why these Herons stand on one leg like this guy is doing...I have noticed this with other Herons...I suspect it is to rest the one leg..

Not only patience and a good camera but very good photographic skills as well are required to make such an image. Very good job Gerry.

This bird must have been a pirate at one time I regret to say. Excellent pose and once again you have the 3C's. This is great series and putting them in frame with identification was pure genius.

Beautiful shot Gerry! I have noticed this with lots of birds - I passed a whole flock of Canada Geese not so long ago in the late afternoon and 3/4 of them were standing on one leg and looked like they were taking a late afternoon snooze! lol!

A great shot Gerry
I suspect you've used anti noise software here as some detail is clearly smeared!! Egrets are great, and have a fine sense of balance too thanx for sharing. :d

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Too think I've worked across the street from that park for 15 years and just visited for the first time this summer, crazy. Excellent shot of the great heron and the clarity is perfect. Love the blurriness of some of the leaves.
