Took this picture late this morning. This bird was perched in a tree next to road that Nature Preserve is on and I spotted him driving down road. Now there is faily heavy traffic on this road so pulled over to shoulder and backed up to him and took this from front seat of my vehicle...he was maybe seven to ten feet away from me. I knew if I got out of vehicle he would fly away which he eventually did.

That hawk sure is eyeballing you. That is a great capture of it the way it is positioned on that branch. I bet it's hard to get shots of birds turning their necks around like that. Good job, Gerry.

I can just imagine you Gerry! I am glad he did not fly away before you had a chance to take his photograph! Looks like the light was perfect to as his body is highlighted against the bright background! very good spur of the moment photo!

Beautiful bird of prey pal!! Perhaps a wee tighter crop 'n' chop and a black backdrop to draw the viewer more into your subject?? The current backdrop color kinda leaves the eye to wonder a bit too much is what I mean. Keep up the great shootin' Tex!!

All the praises and compliments having been paid, time for a serious critical remark: I fail to find any red tail !!! Did you tear it away while persuading the bird to pose ?
Poor birdie - what is he going to do when the mating season comes ?! LOL
