I was walking along bank of Creek in Nature Preserve about a week ago at midday when I came upon this common Garter Snake out sunning himself. He was kind enough to pose for me. They have been out of hibernation for about two weeks.

I guarantee if I had seen this the focus wouldn't have been near this good. lol My father and grandfather were terrified of snakes. They really don't bother me that much if I know where they are at. Nice photo and it looks like he's putting his head on the chopping block.

I just knew from the title, this had to have something to do with a snake. Hey...they don't scare me...as long as they are in pictures. LOL.

Excellent work, Gerry.

He can pose for YOU alright. As for me, I'd be gone because I would "out-slither" him.

The only way I get a Close Up this good of a Snake is if I feel down in front of it and the camera went off on it's on.
The Detail is really too good. I'm waiting for it to come through the screen.
Super Shot Gerry.

The way the light is striking him, Gerry, he looks to be made of gold! Beautiful job on this.

I prefer to see them in a zoo and not in the open air Gerry. Great image (again) my friend!

I don't seem to mind snakes anymore as long as they don't get too close. Fantastic capture Gerry ... the framing work perfectly.

You know, I just came back and looked at this yet again and I noticed the wavy dark line ( shadow, crack in stone? ) that shows up just past the snake's head - it adds an interesting line to the overall composition! It seems to continue the shape of the snake on through the picture - very intriguing... This is an excellent photo all the way around!
