Took this very early yesterday morning in Creek at Nature Preserve. More birds have been returning everyday from migration. This is first Green Heron I have seen this Spring. He has his neck tight to his shoulders here but can stretch his neck to about a foot long. He stretches his neck when he perches on fallen tree limbs into water as he slowly moves down to water and I mean very slowly till he spots a fish and darts his bill into water and comes up with dinner. They are fun to watch.
